Banned From an Offerwall? Why It Happens and What to Do

Getting banned from an offerwall, or having your rewards taken back, is one of the most frustrating things that can happen on a rewards site, and it often arrives with little explanation. This guide covers why it happens, what the major networks say in their own terms, and how to keep your account safe.

We can only speak from public terms and what users report. Every network makes its own decisions, and none of them publishes its full fraud rules.

The five most common reasons

1. Using a VPN or proxy

This is the single most-cited reason. Offers are sold to advertisers by country, so networks check that your location is real.

• AdGate Rewards' user terms prohibit using a VPN, proxy or similar service to complete offers multiple times, or to complete offers in a country you don't live in.
• CPX Research's user terms name "using VPN or proxy services" as prohibited misrepresentation under its fraud policy.

XPReward's terms say the same: no VPN or emulator use to appear as a different user or region. A VPN also fails for a plain technical reason: its IP address looks like a data centre, not a home connection, which is easy for networks to detect. Turn it off before you open an offerwall.

2. More than one account

CPX Research's terms allow one account per person and recommend one per household. Duplicate accounts are treated as fraudulent registration. If someone else in your home also earns on the same networks, check each network's rules on shared households before you both sign up. And never create a second account to get around a ban, because it is the same violation again.

3. Rushing or random answers on surveys

CPX Research's terms also list "rushing through surveys" and "random clicking" as conduct that undermines honest completion. Speeding and inconsistent answers are the fast way to be flagged. (Our guide to why surveys keep disqualifying you covers the quality checks.)

4. Automation and emulators

Bots, scripts, auto-clickers and emulators are prohibited by XPReward's terms and by offerwall fraud policies generally, because they simulate a real person. If your device or browser looks automated, expect declines.

5. Chargebacks: the reward is reversed later

Sometimes you're paid, and then the payment is taken back. A chargeback is when the network reverses a completion after the fact, often because the advertiser rejected the lead as fraudulent or low quality. AdGate describes chargebacks as reversals that can be triggered when an advertiser deems leads to be fraudulent. CPX Research's terms reserve the right to remove account balance generated through fraudulent activity.

On XPReward, when a provider reverses a completion, we reverse the corresponding points. That can leave a negative balance that must be cleared before further redemptions. That's in our terms, because we can't keep points the provider has taken back.

What users report about bans

We want to be straightforward about this. On review sites, some AdGate users describe unexplained bans and reversals, sometimes around larger payouts, and some describe support tickets that never got a useful answer. We can't verify individual accounts, and reviews are one-sided. But it means that even people who believe they followed the rules can be affected, and it's a reason not to rely on any single network.

How to keep your account safe

1. No VPN, no proxy, no emulator. Ever, while earning.
2. One account per person. One device profile, one email, one payout method.
3. Answer honestly and at normal speed. Read every question.
4. Finish what you start, on the same device, following the offer's exact requirements.
5. Keep evidence. Screenshots of offers and progress help if you ever need to dispute a decision.
6. Don't chase one big offer. Spread your effort so no single network's decision can wipe out your progress.

If you've been banned

• Read the message. It sometimes states the reason.
• Contact the network's support politely, with your user ID and what you did. Appeals aren't guaranteed to succeed.
• Don't open a new account. A second account is itself a violation on most networks.
