XPReward vs InboxDollars: Cash Rewards or Game Credit?
October 4, 2026
InboxDollars is one of the longest-running reward sites on the internet, and it pays in actual dollars. XPReward is newer, open outside the US, and pays only in gaming credit. For many readers, the first section decides it, because InboxDollars is not available to them at all.
Who can actually join
InboxDollars is for US residents aged 18 and over. If you live anywhere else, you cannot use it.
XPReward accepts members aged 16 and over and is not limited to one country. Which surveys and offers you see still depends on where you are, because the offer providers decide that, and supply outside the US and Western Europe is thinner. See why there may be no surveys available for how that works.
What each platform actually is
InboxDollars started in 2000 as a paid-email site, which is where the name comes from. Since 2019 it has been owned by Prodege, the company behind Swagbucks and MyPoints. It now pays for surveys, games, offers, shopping cashback, videos and those original paid emails. It says it has paid members more than $80 million.
XPReward is built for gamers. You earn through missions, sponsored offers from four offerwalls (CPX Research, AdGate, Lootably and Torox), referrals, and Gaming Hub contributions such as reviews and guides. Everything redeems for Steam, PSN and Xbox gift cards or game keys.
If you have read our Swagbucks comparison, much of it applies here too. Same parent company, same general model, but InboxDollars shows balances in dollars rather than points.
How you earn
| InboxDollars | XPReward | |
|---|---|---|
| Surveys | Yes | Yes, via CPX Research |
| Offers and games | Yes | Yes, four offerwalls |
| Paid emails | Yes | No |
| Shopping cashback | Yes | No |
| Videos | Yes | Rewarded ad views |
| Referrals | Yes | Yes |
| Earning by writing about games | No | Yes, Gaming Hub |
InboxDollars has the broader menu, especially shopping cashback, which can be worth more than everything else combined if you already shop online. XPReward's one unusual feature is that writing genuinely useful game content earns points.
Getting paid
| InboxDollars | XPReward | |
|---|---|---|
| First payout | $15 | $25 gift card (3,600 points) |
| Later payouts | $10 | $25 and up |
| Payout types | PayPal, gift cards, prepaid card | Steam / PSN / Xbox cards and keys |
| Starting bonus | Varies by promotion | 250 points |
InboxDollars has the lower floor. $15 for your first cash-out and $10 after that is easier to reach than XPReward's $25 minimum, and it pays in cash. XPReward prices rewards at 144 points per $1 of face value and has no cheap first rung. We cover that honestly in how much you can actually make.
Reading the review pages
InboxDollars has tens of thousands of Trustpilot reviews, most of them positive. At the time of writing, though, Trustpilot does not display a rating for it. It says the company breached its guidelines and that it has removed fake reviews. That is worth knowing before you trust the star distribution.
The recurring complaints are concrete:
- Accounts closed suddenly, often after a balance has built up, with little explanation.
- Surveys ending with an error right at submission, so the time spent goes unpaid.
- Identity checks needed to reopen or recover an account.
- Low pay for the time some surveys take.
The survey problems come with the category, and they happen on every site that routes you to third-party panels. Why surveys keep disqualifying you explains the mechanism. Sudden closures are a different matter. Every site closes accounts for fraud, but it should tell you why.
On XPReward, every point movement, including a hold or a reversal, appears as a separate entry with a reason in your Wallet ledger. Nothing is quietly adjusted, and you can always see why your balance is what it is.
Which one should you use?
Use InboxDollars if you live in the US, you want cash, you shop online enough for cashback to matter, and you value a 25-year track record.
Use XPReward if you live outside the US, or if Steam, PSN or Xbox credit is what you would spend the money on anyway. Also if you would rather earn by writing about games than by reading paid emails.
US-based gamers can use both. If you would turn PayPal cash into Steam credit anyway, compare what the same offer pays on each site before you choose.
FAQ
Is InboxDollars legit?
Yes. It has paid members since 2000 and is owned by a large, established company. Its Trustpilot rating is currently hidden for guideline breaches, and account-closure complaints are common, so keep your activity clean and your balance moving.
Can I use InboxDollars outside the US?
No. It is limited to US residents aged 18 or over.
Is InboxDollars the same as Swagbucks?
Same parent company and a similar model, but separate sites with separate accounts and balances.
Which one pays faster?
InboxDollars, because its payout floor is lower. XPReward's minimum redemption is a $25 card.
