How to Check Your Steam Wallet Balance (PC, Phone and Steam Deck)
October 10, 2026
Your Steam Wallet balance is the money in your Steam account, from gift cards, top-ups, refunds or Market sales. Checking it takes a few seconds once you know where to look. Here's where it is on each device.
On the Steam desktop app (Windows, Mac, Linux)
- Open Steam and sign in.
- Look at the top-right corner, next to your account name. If you have money in your wallet, the balance is shown right there.
- For the full picture, click your account name, then Account details. Your Wallet balance is listed near the top, under the Store & purchase history section.
If nothing shows next to your name, your balance is usually zero.
On the Steam website
- Go to store.steampowered.com and log in.
- Your balance appears in the top-right corner beside your name.
- Or open your account name menu and pick Account details to see the wallet balance and your purchase history.
Check the address bar says store.steampowered.com before you type your password. Fake Steam login pages are a common scam.
On the Steam mobile app
- Open the Steam app and tap your profile picture.
- Go to Account details (the app opens your account page).
- Your Steam Wallet balance is shown near the top.
You can also open the Store tab in the app. Your balance is shown at the top of the store page once you're signed in.
On Steam Deck
- Press the Steam button and open the Store.
- Your wallet balance shows in the store header next to your name.
- Or tap your avatar, then Account details.
Can you check a Steam gift card balance before redeeming it?
Not really. Steam has no public "check card balance" page. The value is printed on the card, and you see it added the moment you redeem the code. Any website that asks for your code to "check the balance" is very likely trying to steal it. A code is like cash: whoever redeems it first gets the money.
To redeem a card: click your account name, then Account details → Add funds to your Steam Wallet → Redeem a Steam Gift Card or Wallet Code.
Balance looks wrong? Check these first
- A recent purchase. Open View purchase history under Account details. Every charge and refund to your wallet is listed there.
- A pending purchase. If you bought something and it's stuck, the money may be held until it clears. Our guide on fixing a Steam purchase that's stuck on pending explains what to do.
- A refund. Refunds of games bought with wallet funds go back to the wallet, usually within a few days. The Steam refund policy guide covers the timings.
- A code that didn't add anything. See what to do when a gift card code isn't working.
- The wrong account. If you have more than one Steam account, make sure the code went on the right one. Wallet money can't be moved between accounts afterwards.
