How to Redeem a PSN Gift Card on PS5, PS4, Phone or Web (Step by Step)
October 10, 2026
A PlayStation Store gift card (also called a PSN card or PSN voucher) adds money to your PlayStation wallet. You can then spend it on games, add-ons, in-game currency or PlayStation Plus. Redeeming it takes under a minute. Here's how on every device.
Before you start, find the 12-character code. On a physical card, scratch off the silver strip on the back. On a digital card, it's in your email or receipt. It looks like XXXX-XXXX-XXXX.
On PS5
- From the home screen, open PlayStation Store.
- Select the "…" (more) button at the top of the Store screen.
- Choose Redeem Code.
- Type in the 12-character code (no need for dashes) and select Redeem.
- Confirm, and the funds go straight to your wallet.
On PS4
- Open PlayStation Store from the home screen.
- Scroll to the bottom of the menu on the left and select Redeem Codes.
- Enter the code and select Continue.
- Confirm to add the funds.
On your phone (PlayStation App)
- Open the PlayStation App and sign in with the same account you use on your console.
- Tap the PlayStation Store icon.
- Tap the menu (☰) in the top corner and choose Redeem code.
- Enter the code and confirm.
This is handy when you're away from your console. The money is in your wallet next time you switch on.
On a web browser
- Go to store.playstation.com and sign in.
- Click your avatar in the top-right corner.
- Select Redeem Codes.
- Enter the code and select Redeem.
If your console keeps giving an error, the website is worth trying. It often shows a clearer error message.
Check your wallet
To see that the money arrived: on PS5, go to Settings → Users and Accounts → Account → Payment and Subscriptions → Wallet. On the website, open Account Management → Payment Management. You can see the balance in the store at checkout too.
"This code is invalid" and other errors
- Typo. Codes use letters and numbers that look alike (0 and O, 1 and I). Re-type it carefully.
- Wrong region. This is the most common one. PSN cards only work in the country they were sold for, and your account's region can't be changed. Our guide on using a PSN gift card from another country explains what to do.
- Wallet limit reached. PlayStation wallets have a maximum balance that depends on your country (often around US$150 or the local equivalent). If the card would push you over, spend some funds first.
- Already used or not activated. If a shop card was never activated at the till, it won't work. Keep the receipt and go back to the shop. See what to do when a gift card code isn't working for the full checklist.
- Child account. Child accounts may have spending limits set by a parent. The family manager may need to change those first.
What to spend it on
Wallet funds work for games, DLC, in-game currency and subscriptions. If you're saving for PlayStation Plus, see paying for PS Plus or Game Pass with gift cards. Wallet funds can't be withdrawn or moved to another account.
